If 3rd Gen Threadripper requires a new motherboard, will you still upgrade?

For those X399 owners, assuming the rumours are true and you'll need a new mb to use 3rd Gen TR will you still upgrade or has this put you off?

I was hoping to drop in a 3rd gen chip, but I really don't want to spend ~£400 on a new mb. I think I'll take stock and see what other options come about...hmmm.

I knew X399 would come to an end at some point but was hoping it would have taken up to a 3rd gen cpu in its lifetime.

We do not know if TR 3000 CPUs aren't compatible with X399. What we know is the new motherboards aren't compatible with TR1000 & TR2000.

I'm fully aware of that, my question was if you do require a new mb will you still upgrade?

AMD could quash all rumours in a simple tweet, without giving anything away, simply by stating '3rd gen will work on X399', but the silence doesn't help nor instill reassurance.
