I know it might sound silly, but I have these weird scenarios that go on in my mind constantly, but the current one is if a spider crawled into my computer case and got electrocuted on the motherboard or something and shorted something out and fried something... is this possible...

I know if a human jumped into a power transformer it would short and it might fry something, would the same be relative for a spider against my dual 12v rails?

PS: Welcome to my world of insanity.

Thread gets a HI5 for originality. :p

In answer to your questions yes any spider that crawls in will not only blow your PC up it will also blow your house up as well. :D

One second I will go and find a spider to measure the resistance across the legs.
EDIT:
The resistance is pretty high as my multimeter is not picking up anything.
I wouldn't worry unless you are playing with high voltages.

I've had PC's with spiders living in them before.

Spiders have an exoskeleton which probably isn't electrically conductive. A recently moulted spider might be more conductive.

Somebody do tests!

You had spiders living in your PC?! What is this world coming to...

If a spider attempted to get into my case it would most probably die a gruesome death being shredded by one of the fans or just get blown away.
