i should finaly be getting the last parts to my pc tomorow. i just want to see what kind of fiddleling i will have to do once i have it. building is fine. i have built pcs before but what will i need toi do for drivers and bios settings?

the ram i know i will have to change the timings and volatge for. what else will need fidling in the bios? presumably i dont need to touch the cpu voltage unless i want to overclock? do fans have anything in the bios? then i can set boot priority e.c.t. have i missewd anything.

my mobo came with a cd that has software on it. will i need this? the only thing i can think of is for a bios update (will i need one? and when i get one will i have to redo everything in the bios?). one thing that got me last time i built a pc was things like sound drivers. it has no sound card so i will need to download some. what will i need? and as of yet i have no graphics card so i will use the intergrated mobo graphics for a while. do i need any drivers for this?

sorry about all the questions im a bit nervous. thanks in advance. josh

mobo CD will have all the drivers you need for on-board bits, like sound, VGA, LAN, chipset etc. install them all. you'll need to download manually drivers for any 3rd party bits like graphics cards, sound cards and expansion cards.

as far as BIOS settings you may want to look at the boot order. it will probably default to HDD, HDD, HDD. I usually change this to USB-FDD (USB floppy drive), CDROM (obvious), then HDD last. that way when you stick windows CD/DVD in the drive it will try to boot from that first, so you can install windows.

you won't need to touch a single thing regarding voltages or CPU unless 1) you want to overclock or 2) something is wrong. occasionally RAM timings can be wrong for the installed RAM. read up about that before changing anything.

you might want to change fan settings. go into PC Health section of BIOS and play with the settings. Although the defaults are usually fine (the other options being super slow and super fast).

Also check your temps as soon as you've got it booted up.

Good luck :)
