hi

i currently have a SPEEDTOUCH 510 router modem and am currently with Freedom to Surf price £22.50 per month for 512 unlimited use broadband, i am going to change to either Newnet or UK free software both £19.95 per month both up to 8 mb speeds but none of them give free router modems, my question is do i need a new router modem for the faster speeds? if so can someone recommend one that's easy to set up wires only would do

thanks big al

I have just checked on Newnet web site and I have see a note posted that the Voyager 105 USB Modem is not recommended for MAC or ADSL Max users.

NewNet recommends the use of a router (Voyager 2110 series) with Apple MAC based systems and to obtain optimum ADSL Max performance.

I have seen problems with Voyager 105 USB Modem before with plusnet and ADSL Max lines, dropping the connections all the time

hi

i had a look at a local PC shop and they were selling ADSL-2 modem routers and i assumed that was for the faster speeds up to 8 mb so i thought mine would not work when i upgraded to Newnet.

if it does work then i will have to find the installation CD and manual now as i cant remember how to set it up :) think i will Google for a on line manual

thanks big al

i think for the price £59.95 there's better modem routers in the market, just need to find one that's easy to set up :)

ADSL2 is for speeds above 8Mb. Even old and rubbish USB modems like the BT Voyager 105 can handle 8Mb. Your router will be fine.

You may be OK, just try the BT Voyager 105 first. My friend could not get to work on the plusnet and ADSL Max

If it works you save money, If not buy a router most are easy to set up.

ADSL2+ isn't used by BTw, and won't be for some time. As said, ADSL will readily do up to 8Mbps, and the router you currently have will be fine.

i currently have a SPEEDTOUCH 510

Where's the BT Voyager 105 coming into it?
