Ok, im not really into the online gaming malarky and never will be however I might go to the hassle of conecting the 360 up to the router to get it online purely for demo's/updates etc. I have never connected it up before and im going to have to run a a massive cable to get it online. As soon as i plug it in what happens and where do i get things from? Am i allowed to download things free or do i need to pay for demo's etc?

Remember your talking to someone thats never used Live before so i dont know what im suppsed to look at and see really.

Just need some basic pointers, cheers

XBox 360?

if so when you connect youll have silver membership which entitles you to Demos / Trailers etc.. just not game play

on the xbox live blade, just goto "Xbox Live Market Place" then it'll have options/links to the areas, i.e Demos, Trailers etc.. and voila select and download - pretty easy

Xbox -

dunno not on live with it :)

On the basic, free Xbox Live Silver, you get everything you need except the ability to play games online with other people.

It's one of the easiest things to set up, and updates / patches / demos etc are the majority of the time totally free.

The only things you'd have to pay for on Xbox Live would be extra 'Xbox Live Arcade' games, like say Street Fighter II when it comes out via Xbox Live. That is purchased by Live points. Live points can be bought for by using your credit card on the Xbox, or finding a scratch card in the shops.
