if I like simon and garfunkel......

I recommend Bob Dylan.

Also, I recommend listening to Paul Simon's solo discography, particularly Graceland (1986) :)

Elliott Smith - a bit darker than Simon and Garfunkel, but otherwise brilliant.

If you're after good folk Dylan, I'd say check out the albums "The Times They Are A-Changin" and "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan".

Watch this. LA: From the Byrds to the Eagles

Not only a fantastic documentary but a catalogue of fantastic bands that started off the folk revival.

You'll find fantastic bands in there but if you cba and you should, then theres Joni Mitchell, The Eagles, Cosby stills Nash and Young, Jackson Browne, Carole King, Buffalo Springfield, James Taylor etc etc all fantastic in their own right and I do highly recommend this fantastic piece of BBC journalism and I dont often say that.

A bit darker?! Yeah, just a tad. :p

On a serious note, Elliott Smith is my all time favourite artist, and I'm a big Simon & Garfunkel fan.

I didn't want to put him off :) The subject matter is obviously pretty dark, but songs like "Rose Parade" sound cheery, even if they aren't! I'm also a huge Elliott Smith fan, having only discovered him recently.
