If I think COD MW/2 is too fast, what FPS is for me?

I've been considering recently why it is that I've not truely liked COD since the first and possibly the second installment.

I worked out that it's because the game is so fast. You respawn, kill someone and the die within a very short time, in repeated cycles. And your senses are overloaded the whole time - because as soon as you let your guard down, that's it.

I need something slower, something not as intense. Don't make any assumptions about what I have and haven't played, just make suggestions.

I've had my share of CSS, DOD and TF2. The suggestion of playing L4D with non-randomers is interesting. I didn't take to ARMA or RSV when I played them. And GRAW - really? Is that popular online still? Crysis Warfare.. hmm, tell me more?
I've been taking a bit of a look at BF2.. sounds like it could be an option
