Hi All,
Just wondering, getting bored and fancy a change... if I was going to upgrade from a 295x and 290x in trifire... what are the best options, been out the loop this year but from a quick scan seems the nVidia 1070 is one possibly? I'll be going SLI straight away that's a given. I game at 5760x1080 BUT MAY go to 4k over 3 montioes early next year.

Any opinions as at the moment they're just suffering in BF1 maxed out and think I need the next level?

Depends on budget. It seems you spend a lot in GPU's so I'd probably start with a 1080 and see if that is enough for your needs.

But.... Of course the 1080ti is close so maybe waiting a little longer is the right choice.

Maybe wait until the 1080Ti shows it's head and replace your 3 way xfire setup with that. Tbh that is a lot of horsepower your rocking, with games that allow crossfire/SLI and decent drivers any single card solution is going to struggle to keep up especially in DX12.

I have a 295x2 and am finding that the crossfire support is just not cool - almost all games are a fight to get working with the card. NOt as good an experience as I would have hoped for.

I am hoping that the 1080Ti will be enough to swap to a single GPU for the foreseeable future, at least until there is consistent performance from SLI / Crossfire.

As others have said, IF you must move from your setup now maybe try a 1080. But if you can wait, see what 1080Ti has to offer. OR if you really must move away now and want the best of the best, there's the Titan X Pascal.

I went from a 295x2 to a 1070 did not regret it one bit. With a single card at least when a game comes out it just works, unless the devs screw it up aka Dishonoured 2.

That said I had a lot of fun with my 295x2, got to play many games 4K properly for the first time, but once my back catalogue was done with and crossfire support for new games dried up and sold up and moved on :)

A 1080Ti or hopefully Vega will be a nice move for you, but whatever you do, stay single GPU ;)

I'd go 1080. There is nothing certain with the 1080Ti so you could be waiting for something which may never come out. You can always sell if it does.

One thing is certain, a new card will be coming out whether it is called 1080ti or not does not matter, new cards always come out. If he can wait it makes sense to wait for something with around titan xp performance to come out at a lower price. If money is not an issue I say get a titan xp now :)
