As title, if I took my car for an MOT this sat, but the certificate doesn't run out until Aug 3rd, am I allowed to still drive it post MOT test to Aug 3rd, as long as I get another MOT and any required fixes before previous certificate runs out?

Thanks

Yes.

Unless it fails on a dangerous fault but it's technically an offence to drive around with a dangerous fault anyway irrespective of whether it was just picked up in an MOT or not.

Technically yes

but if you have an accident due to driving around knowing there are issues in court this would go against you

but obviously if its just a minor failure such as emissions or blowing exhaust ect need not to worry

Yes. But you will be driving a Knowingly defective car that has just had an inspection carried out by a government controlled testing center who would have recorded the fail and reasons why on the MOT database.

You may find your insurance could be affected as although you have a valid mot you have just had the car inspected and found to meet mot standards.

It's a bit of a legal nightmare as yes you can still use the car but you could end up with all sorts of problems by doing so.

From VOSA.

"An MOT certificate is valid until its expiry date. However if your vehicle fails a test before this date and you do not rectify the defects then you are driving an unroadworthy vehicle which is an offence."
