Just as above, if my video card is HDCP would I need a HDCP monitor to play premium conent?

I have an x800xl card, and a non HDCP NEC 20WGX2 Pro monitor.

Can I just buy a Blu-Ray player and play Blu-Ray Dvds?
Can I stick Vista on it and play HD content?

What HDCP-protected content do you have? AFAIK no HD stuff on sale at the moment requires HDCP. May be wrong though.

You need Vista, HDCP Graphics Card and a HDCP monitor in order to play protected content at full resolution.

For playing bluray through power dvd you need a full hdcp chain (gfx card and monitor) if you are using DVI or HDMI (ie: digital) connection, but you can use an analogue connection and it doesnt require it.

hope that helps.

Oh I see. I was under the impression if I got a Blu Ray dvd player to play Blu Ray stuff then i'd need a HDCP monitor.
Does that go with plugging my PS3 into my monitor? I can just do it and get HD on my monitor?
