You buy your main/base/mother board which allows it to communicate with PCIe or AGP or whatever, this mainboard gives the option of using an ATI or nVidia GPU, you choose how powerful you want it to be, and also install the ammount of memory you want too.
What would be even better is if you could plug in old pin compatible processors to do the dedicated GPU work, yes they might not be as efficient, but at 3GHz do they need to be in some cases!
It will probably never happen, but it would be nice...
