If you could check my order for issues that would be great...

My old PC has after 4 years valiant service stopped booting. I've tried it with acronis true image, an Ubuntu 7.10 live cd and the installed OS (Win XP).

I'm backed up to the hilt so not worried about data loss. The good news is that I can upgrade my old PC for a newer setup.

I'm not after anything massively whizzy as mostly I use it for some work plus photos/music, that sort of thing.

I plan to reuse my existing:
500GB sata HDDs (Raid 1)
Tagan 580W ATX2 PSU
Lian Li Case
7600GTX graphics card

So all I need is a MoBo, CPU, Ram and a SATA optical drive.

So how will the following sit together:

Asus P5K-E WiFi P35 DDR2 MoBo
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB)
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 SLACR CPU
Asus DVD+-RW Sata drive

My main concerns are:

1) Will the CPU work without a bios update, Asus say that a bios update is required for the newer 45nm parts, is this CPU one of these ?
2) Will the Ram be stable with the Motherboard - would people suggest another make ?

Thanks !

That lot will work fine. The new 45nm processors are Wolfdales, and signified by E8xxx. I would recommend an OEM cpu and get a better HSF so you can overclock. Is the graphics card PCI-E? If not, you will need a graphics card too.

Graphics card is PCI-E, I've also got a zalman cooler that I am hoping to use. So it should all be good to go...
