What would you pick if you could only have one lense for an evening wedding photography

I want to add a lens to my kit that would deal with such events, would be summer evenings, usually inside, disco lights etc.

I was considering the 1.4f 50mm Canon. Currently have the 1.8f but i feel id benefit from lower stop

24-70mm f/2.8

You will be needing a flash anyway, so I wouldn't restrict myself to a single focal length. You can then capture Everthing from w
large griups, couples, acenary, portraits.

Just one? Hard choice between 24-70 f/2.8 and 35 f/1.4 tbh. When it gets really dark indoors, such as during the disco, you're going to need flash support even at f/1.4. The 24-70 is more flexible in terms of focal length but is two stops slower and you'll be leaning on the flash more whereas the 35 would allow more ambient light to be mixed in.

I have both of these but generally go for the 35.

^This. If you're after a prime I'd go with a 35mm f1.4, personally for weddings I'd go for the Canon L over the Sigma Art as I don't find my Sigma that great in low light. (Assuming a full frame camera)

Having done photos at a few friends evening do's I've always gone with a 50mm f1.4 and a flash gun gives a nice balance bettween ambient and flash and keeps the batteries ticking over longer. Also I was a guest at said events so having had a few drinks it was less weight and less money to drop and one less variable for my feeble brain!
