If you had the same game from three regions can you get 3 times the achievements?

Lets say there's a game which I could play over and over again because I love it so much lets use Gears Of War for example would Live allow me to get 3000 achievement points an extra 1000 for each region version I own (Europe, Japan and US) or would it just see them all has the same game?

Yes three copies of the same game but one European copy of the game, One US copy and one Japanese copy.

I'm pretty sure you can get 2 x 1000 from different versions of Bioshock. Although it isn't the case for most games.

Yeah most games will just appear as one entry, but there are the odd few that differ. For example, Army of Two and NASCAR 08 appear as "Army of Two (EU)" and "NASCAR 08 EU" for european versions. There's a very small handful of other games that do have differing titles in different reasons but not many.

Theres supposed to be something in the next update to remove duplicate game entries, so Im guessing it must be possible on certain titles.

I think some german titles might also do it as they sometimes get edited, I hear people playing the german copy of RSV2 can't play with anyone else so there might be different achievements too.

It can be done, as stated, on certain versions of games. Try www.xbox360achievements.org and you'll get a better idea of what games can be done.

(As addicted as I am to gamerscore I couldn't play two different region versions of games to get 1000

Yep, as stated it's only certain versions of games. Generally where bit's of content have been cut.
