Put Vista to sleep mode (the mode that shuts everything down and flashes the power LED on the case and when you power back up it is back to where you left it within 4 seconds).

Once out of sleep mode try and access your network shared folder from a LAN machine.

Can you access the share folder?

I've been toying with this the past few days after various family members have been complaining about not being able to access my shares and it seems they only complain when I return the compy from Sleep mode.

A restart fixes the problem 100% of the time.

So wtf is going on here, I'd have thought MS would have noticed this and fixed it in SP1 !

Disable power management setting for your network card so that computer does not power down your NIC. It wont wake it up when your PC wakes up unless you do a disable/enable (or a reboot).
