If you want a PS3....

DEAR LORD!

I think they published that story about the free HD TV too early. April 1st is still over a week away.

Loads of online stores still have them in stock.

I think £425 is actually reasonable considering you get a BluRay player. If I wasn't revising for my A levels I would buy one instantly without a doubt.

I'll wait until the exams are over though :)

Ahhh, the naïvity of youth ;)

What's the fuss? It's a ridiculously powerful console. An equivalent PC would cost far more than that, so in that respect it's actually a bit of a bargain. It's funny how people don't mind squandering away cash on huge HD television sets, but kick up a fuss about paying for the food that feeds them :D

In what sense? If I buy one it will screw up my exams. Not that Test Drive Unlimited hasn't already though :D

Oh dear, not the whole PC vs Console rubbish :/

Quoted for truth.

No No No. That's not what I want. However, you can't deny that, technically, consoles are computers. A console is simply a more convenient way of delivering games to an audience. There isn't any "vs" argument tbh because we all know the top-end PCs are ultimately superior in all respects, but for what the PS3 is delivering (and the 360 for that matter) I think the price isn't that bad.

Nah, mate, I agree that getting a console instead of revising for your exams is a bad idea. Domark's Championship Manager nearly got in the way of my degree a few years ago. Just remember that TDU will still be there during the summer holidays, and you can play it then instead of revising for resits ;)

However, I meant that considering £425 for a console is reasonable - when a comparable machine is available for approx £150 less.

that is very interesting!
Maybe Sony have screwed themselves with the price more than I first thought!
Xbox 360 was gone within a couple of hours of it coming out...
Amazing had sold all before 6 AM on the day of release!
Having said that didn't Xbox 360 have big distribution problems? Gewtting a 360 in the UK for like 3 months after launch was a nightmare unless you had preordered one or had queued up on launch night...

Microsoft had manufactured about 50 consoles to cope with a worldwide release.

Sony have likely been stockpiling for months ready for European release.

Yeah it's terrible that someone got something for free. Absolutely tear jerking. I feel so sorry for you.
Well, the people that demonstrated their faith initially and pre-ordered from the beginning aren't getting anything, and I guess they're feeling pretty miffed right now.

I happen to know from certain friends working in retail that the fact the PS3 is still in stock is because they're just not selling very many and not just because they have loads and loads of stock.

I know many people have said this but I cant see it flying off the shelves until its sub £300 at least then that when the numbers of sold will rise .
Correct me if im wrong but the Ps2 didnt sell over 20 million untill its 2nd year when the price dropped £100

but they didnt have to wait up to 36hours in a shop did they?

The people that waited and showed their faith in sony were rewarded. People that pre-order just click a few times and its done.

I'm happy for those who got their free stuff. I'm gutted because I work a few blocks away and could quite easily have joined the 1st hundred when I skived off early at lunch yesterday. But I'm dealing with it and maybe with a big hug from you I might even get by...
