I have purchased an Intel NuC extreme 11 and need a gpu to pair with it.
I will be playing a combo of either 1080p via a projector or 4k on the TV. I do not mind up scaling etc and fine to use fsr/dlss/drop settings to get a steady frame rate at 4k. RT does look nice to me but often hammers performance.
I'm very impulsive and have 3 gpus on the way... Looking for some justification for my impulsive stupidity
all will be eligible for return so can pick and keep one which is the plan.
I've ordered -
RTX 4070 - Net cost is about £470
AMD 6800 - Net cost ls about £350
AMD 6700xt - Net cost is about £230
I have case limitations, the card can be 2 slot only (or 2.2 at a push)
I haven't found any aftermarket 6800s which will fit, 6800xts are a no go in all forms even reference.
Budget isn't really an issue but value is,
6700xt - I think 6700xt is the clear winner in terms of cost to performance ratio, but keep seeing people post about vram limitations and it becoming more of an issue as games are released. I remember people saying saying 8gb was pointless over 4gb cards years ago, but now it seems far more important.
4070 - Newer tech, dlss could be useful when playing at 4k, RT will be better, power consumption is pretty epic (though an undervolted 6800 might get near?) - Case is tiny, so the less power/heat is ideally better too.. But again 12gb vram..
6800 - Seems with an undervolt the power consumption is very good as well as overall performance, but about 15% ish slower than the 4070 - but has 16gb vram which could prove golden over the years?
What would you do?
I'm mainly playing Returnal at the moment, if that makes any difference
