Well as title really, reviews up, but I don't expect any negative reviews at the moment, except maybe from yahtzee.

MGS4 got a 9.9 rating and for thos of you at working not able to get to IGN here is the final breakdown:

10 Presentation
From the opening videos to the end credits, the attention to detail throughout Guns of the Patriots is astonishing, setting new standards for production values in games.

10 Graphics
The visuals in MGS 4 are as cutting-edge as you can rightfully expect from the latest videogame blockbuster, boasting as much style as technical expertise.

10 Sound
The surround sound effects are stunning, having actual in-game effects, from using birdsong to detect enemies to choosing your own tunes.

10 Gameplay
Guns of the Patriots is the definitive MGS, taking stealth mechanics to new heights and throwing in so much more that you just have to discover it for yourself.

9.5 Lasting Appeal
Aside from the fact that the cut-scenes bear repeated viewing, you’ll want to play through MGS 4 again and again, simply to unlock ever more exotic weapons and items and player rankings.

9.9
Incredible OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

Looks like we'll be having some fun come the 12th.

:D

Wow, thats one damn high rating, will read through it in a sec.

I'm not really that intersted in gaming at the moment but this will be one of the games i wil pick up when i eventually get a ps3

Thank god i took the 11-13th off work. Woohoo can't wait.

Is the only game of this gen with a higher score so far GTA IV??

Wow. I've never been an avid follower of Metal Gear Solid, but that does sound superb.

I remember going to one of my friend's house and playing on the first one with his older brother. It seemed like such an awesome game, as it was and is. It makes me want to own a PS3 for it. :p

Does anyone here think it would be worth playing all of the others through? I started Substance (or Sons of Liberty?) a few years back and got quite far, but I never completed it. I can't wait to have a go on 4 though. It does sound like a damn good game.

I would try and start with metal gear solid before trying 2

Definitely worth it.

To properly enjoy MGS1 now it's essential to have a gamecube and Twin Sankes.

PS2 is essential for MGS2 and 3 obviously ( I don't know the state of backward compatibility on the PS3.)

If you're feeling cheeky/lazy you could just download the cutscenes.

edit:

What's the deal with this making an appearance on xbox 360? Would seem like the cheapest and most ideal way for me to play this on account of me not having an hdtv.

Yet that's the third last game played by you though :p

My mate, actually

Not touched it for a week+

And GH3, Halo 3 and GTAIV are the only games in my 360 that get played atm. Doesnt mean im the one playing some people have what are called 'in-real-life mates' who also want to play
