Got a server I need to try and get IIS on, remotely I should add.

When going through the add features window to install the IIS components I need it then asks for some files from the service pack 2 disc. Downloaded the ISO and had a hunt through it, files not there so got exe and extracted all the files.

That worked for those files, now it carries on and want a server 2k3 disk. I don't have one at my location I could find the files from and the server never had an i386 folder made to store stuff. So I've had a look for downloading on MS website, like the service pack, but it's too old (at 12 years old funny that!) so it's not there without a MSDN subscription.

Anyone got any ideas, short of saying get your IT company to install it since they should have the disc from when they built the server.

you'll probably have to "stumble" across the ISO you want while casually browsing the internet. finding out and checking the SHA1 hashes of the download should verify it hasn't been tampered with.

also, does it really have to be IIS? you could bung apache on there if you don't need the microsoft specific server side stuff.

it's easy enough to setup with php - i haven't a clue about asp?? or is it just that you're not used to working with config files and having to restart the server after making changes? :p

Stop messing around with an outdated OS
Not my server! I just need IIS. I've spoken to their IT and he knows it's getting old but if they don't want to replace it, they don't want to!

It's a new learning experience here for me marc2003, was trying the install on my PC cos I don't even know if the bit I need to install would work with it, so wanted it on my PC for testing.
