Hi all,

Hopefully, this is the right place for a question of this nature. We've got a few Windows servers hosting sites on IIS, is there an easy way of finding which of the IIS sites are still being accessed by users? We're looking to consolidate servers and so I'm looking to do a little housekeeping as we've lost track of which sites are still required and which sites should be removed from service.

I'm looking to be able to track access stats over 10, 20 and 30+ days, doesn't have to be overly in-depth, just whether the site is being accessed over a period of time.

Many thanks in advance

Have you looked at appfabric? I've only used it in passing but the guys who look after the servers swear by it here.

I wrote a util a few years ago that shows bandwidth usage per-site, which might answer the question for you.

It should work on all versions of IIS that have the metabase compatibility stuff installed. Requires .NET 2.0 and Log Parser (installed during install if necessary).

Hi,

I use livebandwidth, but you could just take a look through the logfiles directory (c:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles usually) either manually or with some kind of file tree app (depending on the number of sites you have). I'd expect a logfile of an unvisited site to only be a few KB big. This is a little subjective of course, if it's one person visiting a once a month that won't be very obvious.

This all depends on you having logging turned on of course.
