Iiyama E2201W

pretty sure it was just the v1 they reviewed, since they had the model without DCR (think that's the only difference anyway between v1 and v2)

I think that is right too. Shame about the 1:1 pixel mapping, are there any 22 inchers that'll do this?

just with dynamic contrast ratio added afaik

dont know of any 22" models with pixel mapping options, unless any of the new Dell models offer it

Did anyone find out if the E2201W-B2 has zero imput lag? Just how different would the B2 be over the B1? Is the contrast ratio a major factor? Thinking about getting my first LCD.

I just bought a B1 but the B2 arrived this morning. Not sure to try it or RMA it. There seems to be conflicting reports on input lag. If it doesn’t have input lag I guess it’s better to keep it. There has to be some place apart from digitalversus that has done testing.

Being my first LCD I am not sure if 30ms input lag will bug me or not and I have no idea how much better the higher contrast it. I do notice and not like it when sound is out of sync with a movie by a small amount due to bad encoding. Is 30ms enough to notice sound being out of sync? Like people speaking and lips not moving with the sound?

EDIT: Well I plugged the B2 in and my reaction has stayed the same. Not played any games or watched a movie yet but tried http://www.fetchfido.co.uk/games/reaction/reaction_test.htm. If there was imput lag I would have thought it would have showed on that.

Update 2: Not too sure about the colours. Desktop and movies look fine. But the Eve login screen looks like its 16bit colour. The LCD I borrowed of my father did the same thing; perhaps the brightness is too high. The blacks/grays on the logging screen are not a smooth transition. Still running the LCD at default settings.
Impressed with the viewing angles. It’s the first LCD I could lay down in bed with and not lose any IQ. Being just below the screen the brightness dropped a very tiny bit almost unnoticeable. Colours where fine and very watchable. Above the screen it was bad and drops off fast but that doesnt matter for me.
The biggest problem is due the extra size movies that looked ok before where a little blocky. Mostly older things. Hardly the screens fault.

Pottsey, thank you for sharing your experience.

Regarding your question, input lag is a very subjective thing, however, I very much doubt you would notice 30 ms lag when watching video (at least in terms of audio-video synchronicity). The generally accepted view - and I'm by no means endorsing this - is that it really only comes into play when the input lag is much higher or when one is in the habit of playing fast paced games (i.e. of the FPS variety) where "every [fraction] of a second counts".

In any case, I suggest you form your own opinion by reviewing this very informative article courtesy of xbitlabs:

Where can you buy the B1 version now, all the shops are stocking only B2 versions. It's so frustrating that a panel comes along and takes the market by storm (on the qt) then all of a sudden they realise how good the product is and what do they do... stop making it. give you diluted versions of the original greatness and creates a scarity factor that will drive prices up.

I've had this monitor for a little while now and I think its great. Its my first LCD monitor so I don't have much to compare against.

The viewing angles up down and to the side are not brilliant but as use it directly head on for mainly work, browsing and gaming its fine.

I changed the colour settings as advised on Behardware and it did make an appreciable difference to the picture.

No ghosting at all, although I don't play FPS games, no dead pixels and the back light bleed is almost non existent.

Going from a 19" CRT to this has been unbelievable, I couldn't possibly consider anything less than this in the future. I'm tempted to buy another, make sure it works ok then leave it stored until I need to replace the first one!

EDIT: Mine is a B1 btw.

anyone else had any experience with this monitor? finnally got me a B1 version monitor and my mate over the road has the B2, questions:-

1. Will the dynamic contrast really make a difference to the picture/screen as in make it look better?

2. have anyone (baddass etc) found out if both B1 & B2 have input lag or not?

3. Badass where is your review :p

4. ill try to post some screen shots of the B1 & B2 side by side running a stopwatch and take some shots to see if the monitors differ themselves.

anyone input appreciated :)

Edit - BTW:-

The B1 has great picture clarity sharp and good viewing angles from front, colour once added the BE review settings is lovely and will keep me going until I get a screen calibration tool..... the first game I tested to check for input lag CS:Source I got 27 / 6 on a high skilled server with 22 people in the cbble map :) needless to say i was happy^^ and i left half way through the map :P :P

Now i just need to get me a 8800~GT or 9600GT as my 7600GT just does 1680x1050 @ 60-120 fps max res & detail etc :s

I 100% recommend getting this monitor, my mate over the road also loves his B2 version and tbh i dont think 11-20ms u would notice :) also input lag can also be caused by the graphics card, mouse and other components.

Ps. Badass where is that awesome review your so good at?? And which version B1 or B2 did you get or have Badass??

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for your swift reply. You say that it doesn't show zero input lag, is this a simply typo, or does the monitor exhibit input lag?

Thanks,

Oliver

Hi Oliver,

This monitor does also support 1:1 pixelmapping, doesn't show zero input-lag and is available in the UK.

Kind regards,

Subject: Questions Regarding the E2201W-2

Hi there,

I am interested in purchasing the above monitor and was wondering whether you could answer a few questions for me.

Firstly, does the screen support 1:1 pixel mapping? This would make playing games at a non native resolution a better experience.

Secondly, with the addition of a higher dynamic contrast level over the E2201-1, will it still exhibit zero input lag? This would be one of the main reasons for purchasing the monitor, as it would be great for games, as shown in the below link.

http://www.behardware.com/articles/689-2/22-inch-lcd-monitors-the-3rd-wave.html

Finally, when do you expect UK stock to be available?

Thanks
I hope this helps people out, but a direct comparison between a B1 and a B2 by Angel_Rex would be pretty cool to see.

Hmmmm, when I contacted Iiyama they claimed 1:1 pixel mapping (as we know it) was not supported. Several of you would appear to have this monitor now (in either B1 or B2 form) so can one of you please confirm.

not had a chance to review both monitors side by side but i can say the e2201w-b1 absolutely rocks sosososososossosososososossososo pleased i got it and recommend this to all others, pish to anyone who doesnt love it :p
