Just got myself one of these, seems very nice so far, but I had trouble getting it to use the HDMI input and eventually called the Iiyama helpline, which resulted in the following tip:

To use the HDMI input you must:
Only have the HDMI video cable connected, can't have the analog one connected at the same time, or at least I was told not to connect the analog.
Turn Monitor On
Turn PC On
Quickly press Exit (on the monitor) 3 times - the OSD will show HDMI input selected.

Once I did that it worked fine, no problems since, and you only have to do it once, not every time you turn the PC on.

Very pleased with it so far, moved from an Iiyama VM Pro 450 (19" CRT). Only complaints would be that the TN panel's viewing angles are annoying, coming from a CRT, it's so big that you can easily see darkened shading at the edges if you don't sit facing it properly; and that the speakers don't seem to have a low volume setting, I have it set on Vol 1 (out of 100) and it's still quite loud, although I am in a quiet room. I decided to mute it and stick with the headphones I was using before.

Yeah, the monitor can do 1:1 or fixed aspect itself, the drawback being you can't use overdrive when those modes are activated. OD doesn't make a huge difference, it's very useable with OD at 0 and fixed aspect on in Quake3 for instance (just tested), but OD 2 is a little crisper when moving quickly.

I haven't conducted any extensive tests but I haven't noticed any input lag compared with my old VM Pro 450 CRT, so I'd say the 0-3ms input lag it's rated at is probably accurate too.

Crusader-

Thanks for your useful comments on this monitor. I'm looking to get one of these.

Can you tell me if your screen has backlight bleeding at all? Does the backlight inverter buzz at all?

Also, how well does the monitor perform running at resolution of 1680 x 1050? I read somewhere that you can get black banding when using non native resolutions

Thanks

Glad to be able to help, I know it's always good to be able to hear from someone who owns the product before you buy, especially where there are hundreds of £s involved! As nobody else seems to have this monitor, or hasn't felt like writing about it, I thought I would. Especially as that tip from Iiyama support was so useful.

I just did a test, setting my screensaver to blank and previewing it, to see if I could spot any backlight bleed; I couldn't see any actual constant light bleed, if I moved my head up or down to change the viewing angle any lighter patch went away, however there was a small patch at the bottom of the screen that was lighter than the rest in default sitting position. Haven't noticed it in normal use though, including in the Thief games.

I haven't heard any buzzing from the monitor at all, nor does it even get warm around the heat vent area during extended use (a big change from my old CRT that our cat used to cook itself on).

I tested GTR2 at 1680 x 1050, both with vsync on and off, and I couldn't see any banding or graphic problems at all. If you meant black strips at the side of the image, that would only happen with 1:1 or fixed aspect scaling enabled, I think at 1680x you'd only get that with 1:1, as the aspect is the same as 1920x.

Hope that info helps!

Excellent, thanks for answering my questions.

Sounds like the backlight bleeding is pretty minimal on this monitor. Apparently all TN panels have some bleeding and screen non uniformity. I just hope it isn't as bad as my last Samsung 22" Pebble. The Sammy also gave off an annoying mosquito like whining noise, good that yours is quiet.

Thanks for clearing the black banding issue up. A review elsewhere confused me by saying there was vertical banding playing at 1024 x 768. The review is here http://www.digitalversus.com/article-357-2332-50.html

I've just bought an E2403WS. This is exactly the same panel as the B2403WS but without the height adjustable stand. Paid £258 delivered, so pretty happy with that.

I'll report back when I've tried it out. Thanks again

Quick question on the inputs and switching of the E2403WS if anybody knows. With 2 PCs connected (i.e. one on DVI (via HDMI dongle) & one on VGA) can you switch between inputs via a single press of a button on the front. Just about all screens allow this but I just want to check if the HDMI complication in post #1 affects it. Thanks

Not sure, Crusader should be able to answer this. The E2201W-B1 had a Source button, this doesn't appear to have one. Maybe the Exit button does this.

Buttons are set up like this...

I only have the DVI->HDMI cable attached but as deckard suggested it is the Exit button that switches inputs, one press brings up the OSD showing which input is selected (HDMI in my case), next press switches the input (OSD now shows D-Sub).

Thanks, sounds like you can but it does require 2 key presses though.
