So, I just bought the Iiyama Prolite E2773HDS when it was slightly reduced for the weekly deal. The review of it on expert reviews was great, as were the reviews on the ocuk site itself, however I have a question.

Should I be seeing this when the screen is dark? http://i.imgur.com/7kVVr.jpg (Monitor is on, displaying a black image full screen.)

I just switched from an old HansG 28 inch I got in 2007, probably from ocuk also. While the colours do seem better and the blacks are deep at the top, the bottom and middle area seems like it's a bit white washed from the back lighting.

Is this reasonable? I'm not really sure what to think, but it's not what I expected.

It's backlight bleed, caused by light that isn't100% blocked therefore some light to "bleed" through the LCD causing spots of lighter areas on a dark or black background.

Some monitors suffer worse than others from this.

Yeah, I know. What I'm wondering about is if this is a particularly bad case, or is it within reason? My last monitor had pretty bad, shaped, backlight bleeding, this is at least a bit more uniform. It does seem to cover more of the screen, though.

You should post in the customer service section on these forums and put the link to that image. I would say that is bad enough to return as faulty as i could not live with that amount of backlight bleed.

If I got a monitor that bad, it would go straight back.

Had monitors with far less than that which I returned. I have little tolerance for this "X" amount of defect is considered a normal/acceptable, especially when it comes to spending hundreds of pounds.

Send it back

So have you had this sorted yet? I got mine the other day although with being at work I've not set mine up yet so I hope mine isnt that bad.
