I recently purchased th iiyama prolite E2473HDS. What I cant work out is how to connect my creative gigaworks S750 7.1 speakers to the monitor as the built in monitor speakers are the quietest speakers ive used.

Anyone have any ideas how this would be done ?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

From what I can see the only audio output is the headphone jack.

You would need to connect a cable from this to your speakers.

Or just connect the speakers directly to your PC.

Sorry what I forgot to mention was Im trying to get audio from another hdmi source. I already have audio for my pc which is hdmi 1. Hdmi 2 is connected to my virgin media box. Id like to find a way to get hdmi 2 to play audio from my pc speakers. If that makes any sense.

As your speakers only have one set of inputs the only way I can see for you to connect your Virgin Media box is to:

a) use an adapter so you can connect the headphone jack from the monitor to the speakers at the same time as the PC connection or

b) use an adapter so you can connect the Virgin Media box audio output (if it has one) to the speakers at the same time as the PC connection.

Something like these:

The options I can see:

1) Twin phono connectors to 3.5mm jack plug from the VM box direct to the speakers using an adapter like I posted above

2) 3.5mm jack plug (I assume) from the monitor headphone socket to to the speakers using an adapter like I posted above

These options limit you to stereo sound but that's what you're getting now anyway.

Will this not give me both audio at the same time through the same speakers ?

Only if you're actually sending a signal out from both the PC and VM box at the same time.

I don't see how you can do anything else.

Your speakers only have one set of inputs so they've got to be shared somehow.

Ive got the cables hooked up.

This cable is hooked up to my sound card with my speakers and the 3.5mm jack connection from the 2x phono to jack connector.

The problem is the volume just isnt anywhere near loud enough. I have to up the volume on the creative controller to max just to hear it at all.

Any ideas mate ?

The VM box will have its own volume setting so ensure that it's up to the maximum.

And just check the way you've connected it.

The adapter you've pictured above should be plugged into the green front audio connector of the speakers not to the PC.

You then plug the front audio output from the PC and the cable from the VM box into the adapter.

Ok Ive set it up like you've stated above but still exactly the same still very low on volume.

How's the volume from the PC?

Try just plugging the cable from the VM box directly into the front audio connector on the speakers.

Does the VM box have any settings to direct the audio output to the phono connectors?

If I just plug in the cable from the VM box directly to the front auido connector on the speakers its much better. Why you think this is ?
