I've noticed there is little discussion of Iiyama monitors in this forum. I have a 17" Prolite E431S and I love it. It seems to have great reviews as well.

Does anyone else have an opinion on Iiyamas panels?

I'm planning to get another Iiyama for a second system. I'm thinking 17" as all the 19" monitors seem to have the same native resolution (1280x1024) as 17" models. I don't get it, why would I get a larger monitor if I didn't get a higher resolution? Wouldn't that just reduce the sharpness of the picture?

I've got 2 E435S's on here, quality screens.

17 > 19 doesnt recrease the sharpness, its just makes everything bigger.

Ok. If I pull the 17" monitor a bit closer to my head won't that produce exactly the same effect as having a 19" screen with the same res?

I see what you mean. It looks great. Not sure it's worth the extra money though.

I had an Iiyama Idek CRT monitor years ago which was real quality screen - company then went through a bad patch ( like alll do at one time or another) and they seemed to get a bad name for quality / reliability, hopefully this means that they are on the up again!!!

Just thought I'd post a word of warning. I've noticed Iiyama have updated their E431 and E481 monitors with lower response times and whatnot. However, the model number is unchanged so some sites with seemingly the best prices are selling the older versions. The newer panels have 8ms refresh rates, as opposed to the 12 and 25 ms times for the old E431 and E481 panels.

I have two Iiyama E431S-Bs and both have just packed up with the same problem at the same time, just under 2 years old as well :(

Fortunately they are still covered under the 3 year warranty but not sure whats going to happen in terms of a fix/replacement.

They realy are an excellent monitor, I used to have a E431S, only recently replaced it with a Hans HW191D.
Idealy I wanted another E431S but the prices are still sky high, which made the Hans a better choice for me.

My (2.5 year old) E431S died last week while I was staring at it and I haven't got round to phoning for a pick-up yet. Tried emailing but [email protected] seems to be dead.

Anyway, what problem did you monitors have? Mine seems to have lost the ability to scan horizontally (he said, as if he had the slightest clue). All I see are vertical lines which change as I wave the mouse or ALT-TAB, so obviously it's not *totally* knackered.

Lovely monitor though... when it's working. :-)

PS I appear to have accidentally bought a Dell 2007FP to replace it (for the 1600x1200 res and 4 year warranty). Not sure how that happened <fx:looks innocent>. With arrival due any time now I should really be sat quietly with fingers crossed praying to the God of Dead Pixels and Backlight Bleeding, not hanging around here.

Try ringing 0870 224 9595, i got through to them straight away.
According to the website, they are covered under a on-site swap out warranty.

The problem my monitors have is that they turn on and then the screen goes black, if i press the input button the picture comes back, but then goes away again. If i repeat the process they will eventually stay on, but obviously this is no good. The secondary monitor has now surpassed this fault and started just turning itself on and off completely by itself. :(

Just had to email them proof of purchase, presumeably to validate when i bought it (and that the warranty is still available). Once thats done they'll ring me back and arrange for replacement to be sent and the others picked up, seems like good service so far!

Ah, thanks. I was just wondering if there was a common link in our failures, indicating a weakness. Obviously not.

That was the phone number I was having trouble with, I was obviously just unlucky. :-) Someone elsewhere pointed me at [email protected], and that email address seems to work where [email protected] didn't.

Anyway it's not so important now I'm sitting staring at 1600x1200. The Iiyama will make a nice second screen when it's sorted out though.

[email protected] is the email address i have been contacted by.

Just got this:
Thank you, I have validated your warranty with the information provided,
however, we do not have any of these units available at this time to do an
immediate exchange for you. You will be contacted again once we can arrange your
exchange.

There is also the option of having your units repaired.

Not really sure what to make of that, its kind of a fob off.

i have or should I say had a 19" vision master pro 454 but its broken now, turns on but no picture... since these are not in stock n e more... they have offered me the new 5ms 17" or 19" prolite S (with speakers) at half the retail price... 89 quid for 19" which i'm plannin to go for. I had my original monitor for 1 year and 7 months.

You guys think this is a good deal? My only problem is that the new tft, although being a new tft, has a native resolution of 1280 X whatever. Which is good but my original monitor could go up to 2048 x 1920 or something. Granted I barely went to that resolution but seems a bit unfair that I have to pay for something that has worst resolution even if it is at half price, just because they can't replace my monitor. They have offered me the repair service but its hard for me to make time to stay home because of work and I wouldn't want to do it twice (twice for the repair option but I'd need to stay in only one time if I got the new tft).

What do you guys think?

P.s. is the new tft any good? I'm having trouble finding reviews... but it sounds pretty sexy.

Thanks in advance
