Iiyama xb2779qs - can I get full resolution without dvi-d?

I’ve just picked up a iiyama xb2779qs dirt cheap. It only accepts the full resolution through dvi-d dual link, through hdmi and vga it only displays 1080p. My computer only outputs hdmi or vga, would a hdmi to dvd-I adapter work? Or is there any other way around the problem?

Afraid not looked into this for ages for my monitor that would only display 1080p 144hz through DVI-D , HDMI to DVI was a no go but managed to get a DP to DVI active adapter working at 144hz , if you have not got DP or DVI out on your GPU your pretty much stuffed.
