As per title really. Looking at getting a 3 seater fabric sofa (2.8 to 3m), and the Ikea ones fit my requirements on paper. Might go and have a look at them, but was wondering what experience of them might be on here...

Cheers!

I've walked away from them so many times. I just don't think they look good in person. there's something about a lot of the fabric ones that just doesn't seem 'neat' they're sometimes kind of baggy looking and mis-shapen.
Some of the leather ones are nice but the fabric ones I don't like. They all look decent on the website but when you see them in real life your opinion may change! go and have a look!

The only experience I have is with the EKTORP range. I had the two seater version in white (I know, bad choice of colour). But the colour aside, I found it to be very uncomfortable. Very hard indeed. We actually ended up replacing the foam in the cushions to make it more comfortable once the original foam just lost all firmness and shape. When the covers are washed (as per instructions) they distort making refitting them a nightmare and also they then never look as good. The covers are also cheaply made. They break particularly where the zips are sewn...the zips are also not that heavy weight to cope with the stresses on them. The cover also un-stitches itself in various places.

I would stay well clear as even though they're very affordable, in this case it was "you get what you pay for". But like I said, I can only speak for the EKTORP range. Which admittedly is a budget range.

Our DFS sofa, which was similar size and style (but not white!) but a fair amount more to purchase, 7 years on is still in great shape and has suffered none of the problems we had with the Ikea one which was bought at the same time and gotten rid off 1.5 years later.

Have had a leather two seater for the past 5 yrs from Ikea. Sofa was ok, but one of the arms now needs refilling and one of the seat cushions is beginning to sag, not really a problem because there's a zip around the back of the cushion that allows for changing the inner foam although the seat cushion is attached to the sofa itself.

Not sure I'd buy again from Ikea if the sofa was going to get some abuse e.g. kids jumping all over it.

We bought Ektorp for our holiday flat, but I don't think it would stand up to family use/abuse. More for occasional or for singles/couples who won't punish it too hard imo.

Our main sofa is from www.sofa.com - a little pricy but brilliant build quality.

They just don't stand up to day-to-day wear, IMO. The seats are hard, yet still manage to go saggy, the material covers shrink despite being 'washable' and the seams come undone when you then try to get the cushions back in. That latter point stands for the non-leather poang seats as well.

Get a real sofa :p

I have a Ikea Karlstad in Isunda Grey.

Purchased a two and three seater and they are holding up well since last year.
