There was a thread about this in last couple of days but guess it was lost too. :(

Anyway, after reading that thread it got me back into the "I should buy that game" mood. I just bought it for a few quid off the bay and in the next couple of weeks will probably pick up a joystick and attempt to get flying...

There was a member who posted who had a forum/website for this game, can't remember who. Anyone remember who, or the site address? Will need to read up on some pointers before hand!

There's also plenty of missions, skins and various other bits and bobs in the download area too. Just be warned though, we recently had one of our servers HDD's go south so things aren't fully upto speed again. It's still quick though, just not as quick as it normally is . So if you experience any problems, then that's probably the reason.

twas me that mentioned it - and here's me playing it.....

Sounds like me I have quite a few games that are gathering dust cos I havent gotten round to playing them yet. :)
Played IL2 once when I bought it and got most of the expansions. Gonna reinstall it later and give it another go.

I thought I'd randomly buy a headset for this aswell... Just cause... (Shh, it wasn't a pointless impulse buy!)

I'm thinking I'll just try and source a cheap Saitek Evo to play, don't think I'll bother with keyboard at all, ugh!

Ive got a wierd problem with my merged installation.

I have no campaigns to choose from anymore. I have all the single missions to select from, but there are no campaigns available to select.

:o

If you guys wanna go online, check out HyperLobby - that's where everyone resides.

Practise offline though, otherwise you may get demoralised! Best tips I can give is configure your joystick first (it will need configuring otherwise you'll bank and crash at take-off);practise landing on airstrips and then carriers; only begin shotting at enemy planes when they are at least 0.3 away (KM's I think).

Although there are helpful people at hyperlobby that will follow you and give advice.

Check out www.airwarfare.com for all the above.

Good Luck - a great game with a steep learning curve

In all honesty, jump in at the deep end when it comes to views and icons, turn allicons off and restrict yourself to just cockpit (not nose cam!) view. Leave externals on so you can glimpse around when lost and to soak in the scenery on long hauls, but seriously, nothing gets you up there quicker than just gritting teeth and getting on with it :)

Oh and one more thing.. as far as combat goes, you can never outshoot someone, only out fly them. you might be the best shot in the world, but if you can't fly yourself into that position to take the shot, you'll never score a kill - so concentrate on being able to fly well and out-fly your opponent and you'll score hits.

Think ill be doing the same, will run like a dream as well. :)

Just installed it, but it doesn't like perfect though, i could see the title screen behind flashing, and the whole screen went screwy lol, runs like a dream though. :D

Im gona have to find, and install the first one (Sturmovic) now though, as i remember now that the training missions in this one you just watch, where as on Sturmovic you watch the computer do them, then you get the controls so you can do them. :D

I had IL-2 ages ago, but took it back...didn't like it much at all tbh, though to be fair, I never gave it much of a chance after I saw how technical some of it was. :o

How dare fleebay be stupidly efficient and fast... Both the headset and game turned up today, how am I meant to stick to revision now? Must not look for joystick!

While it looks great and the MP game is good. The SP sucks because of the flawed AI. Personally I prefer other sims like Falcon Allied Force or Wings over Vietnam. That said I own IL2/FB/Aces. But I never manage to finish a campaign. The bugs annoy me too much.

IL2 is a great game and one of few flight sims I enjoy. Used to play it on LAN about 2 years ago :)

Might have to dig it out again :D
