IL2 1946 Res

Anybody successfully got higher than 1280 x 960 screen res from IL2 1946?.

Would look great 1600 1280 or at least 1280 1024?

You need to edit the conf.ini file in the window section:

[window]
width=1280 < width
height=800 < height
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0 < for non 4:3 aspect ratios
Use3Renders=0

Could you give me an idea where that is?.

Also do i then play it in a window as instead of full screen?.

C:\Program Files\UbiSoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\conf.ini

Is the default location unless you changed the install location.

Change the width and height to the resolution you wish to run at, if it's not a 4:3 aspect ratio then also change SaveAspect=1 to a zero, you will still be running fullscreen unless you change the FullScreen=1 to a zero.

Do not use the in game settings after you have done this as it will reset your resolution to 640 by 480 so you need to set your prefrences before editing the conf.ini file.

No problem, just make sure you're running IL2 in perfect mode on that 8800

Might also want to edit the Water=1 to read Water=4 in the openGL section (right at the bottom) of the same file for the top end water effects.
