IL2 Sturmovik Vista 64bit

I got this to install but I cant remember how as I had to format and start again and didn't bother re-installing. IIRC you have to run the direct installer from th CD rather than the autorun installer.

am waiting for a relative to bring it to me end of month w/ my HOTAS controller, will let you know. but can't see why it wouldn't work. worst i could see is to have to run in admin mode.

btw is there any1 online playing it? last time I played it 5 years ago, the servers were fairly empty thus I never got Pacific wars expansion

The latest version of IL-2 1946 (all the games into one DVD) has a fairly large multiplayer playerbase last time i played (about a year ago). Hyperlobby is the place to be. :)

You wont have to worry about finding folk online, they will find you (mostly from out of the sun). An awful lot of quality virtual aces out there. After a 5 year break I would strongly recommend plenty of practise before entering hyperlobby.

Thanks for the replies, folks. I've tried it from the disc directly (not auto run) but still can't seem to get it. I get windows asking for permission and once that's granted nothing happens. I'll keep trying it and hopefully it installs. It's from the disc that was complete collection with Pacific Fighters as well. It may just be an issue with that particular edition. The only thing that was making me wonder was that it states on Steam that it would work on XP only. Hopefully I can either find a way or a different version.

Thanks.

hehe i used to get seriously pwned when i played it back in the day. some seriously good pilots (I suspect some real-life pilots too) out there and nearly impossible to shake :( game does require a lot of skill, limited ammo and need to get close and dirty. still good fun, didn't like the whole fuel mix etc.. bit too much for a noob like me
