Hi there,

If i had a copyrighted website and someone used a program to query the HTML output on my website and use that in his program - it would be illegal right, even if he credits my website?

(talking about text and/or images)

Is there anyway to know if he is doing this?

Thanks.

He can't steal your content/text, if that's what you mean. He can quote some of it then say "...click here to read the full story" which will take users to your site. But even then, Google has got in trouble for that with their News page.

The most you can see is whether someone has requested the content. You can't tell what they do with it once they have it.

You've placed content on the public domain. He is quoting you (proven by him providing credit.)

There is nothing illegal with this.

The point is it is a dynamic quote. Which isn't following the requests/terms of the original site.

Cease and desist letter, contact your lawyer (or Citizen's advice bureau).

As said just change the code a little. Either that or block his IP if you can figure out which it is.
