Illustrating IP addressing scheme

This is one for anyone into network design...

How do you illustrate best your addressing scheme and VLSM network? I'm not sure how to properly represent it visually.

(Besides showing a topology)

Speadsheet --> seen it done reasonably well. Cross references IP Address Range vs The items contained in the range (i.e. office room 1, server subnet etc.) If you dont get it then I can get a SS.

I've seen it done as sort of a box split up into segments, but i'm not really that bothered about that, it just looked good.

Lost the screen shot now A table cross referencing the subnet vs contents of subnet seems the most practical.

Best way is a structured table or Tree diagram.

Depends if you need to illustrate subnets or static IP ranges etc.

Tree diagram looks best for demonstrating a VLSM structure and route consolidations.

Tabular is better for detailed logical layout, i.e something you could actually work from to install it on the ground.

I always do mine as Pea0n said, fairly simply spreadsheet showing the subnet address, host range and the subnet mask (or slash format).

Works well, don't see the need to do it any other way really.
