Illustrator - creating a vector image

I've made a logo in Illustrator, which is made up of a small bit of text and a photoshop brush stroke which I copied from Photoshop to Illustrator and then faded behind the text.

I can increase the size without distortion ok but how do I save it so I can use it on a web page? I saved it as EPS and it's 1.8mb lol.

Also should I have used a transparent background?

Any help in this area would be great because this is all new to me.

Save it as a gif or jpg - gif if you want a transparent BG. Use the save for web option

But you will need to save at the size you want it on the website for it to look it's best
