Hey guys, first post on the forum!!:) i pretty much just need a lil help with selecting parts for a cheap gaming pc build, ive never built a pc before but i think id be able to now, this is my build so far, do all the parts fit??and im a bit unsure if the processor is good enough to play cod4 on almost full?? and is the psu big enough??
specs are

Asus ATI Radeon HD 4850 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail £129.99
(£149.49) £129.99

Well, I dunno much about COD4, but I know it'll depend on the resolution you want to play it at. Hopefully if you put that up someone can tell you.

This spec is much better:

You don't need a 1GB 4850, they're pointless & even more so on a 19 inch screen.

The Corsair PSU is better than the Antec and 450Wis plenty for this spec. Intel CPU is better than the AMD (more responsive from my experience).

I don't know about Intel being "more responsive", I'm not sure I'd put any weight in that...

The E2200 will just not match an X2 5200 for performance.

Dunno, I found my E2180 to be snappier than my old AMD Dual Core X2 (a 3800 I'll admit).

Does anyone have any benchmarks comparing a 5200X2 to a E2200?

I've searched extensively and found none. The CPUs run at 2.2Ghz and 2.7Ghz though, that's quite a difference.

That should be about an equivalent though. Core 2 Duo architecture is much more efficient than AMD's old X2 stuff.

Core 2 still outperforms Phenom so....

(I'm sure you're already aware of this, just saying).

is the pentium dual core the same as a core 2 duo??? i have 60 quid saved up so far so that will buy the power supply!! chrimbo presents should amount to a total of around 500 euro's or so....450£.... the specs above look quite good for the price......would save money with AMD which needs to be thought about:eek: building it myself should be a bit nerve racking as its my first build and knowing where all the wires go etc will be tough for a beginner but i should be fine
