hi everyone,

i am new to OcUK and need some help.
i have a xps 625,
AMD phenom x4 9850
2x ATI radeon 4670's
all i know about the mobo is that on cpu-z it says:
Manufacturer- dell/ model0P927G
750w psu
soundblaster xfi sound card
2x optical drives(1x reader, 1x RW)
dell wireless card.

i want to start overclocking this but i only have the stock air cooled heat sink which doesn't have a fan.
ive been reading up on here and ive been drawn towards the water cooling option. i have had a look at the parts needed and kits available and although my case is big the space isnt configured in the best of ways. i only have a small vent at the back which i could use for a fan/rad and none of the ones ive looked at are small enough for it.

knowing this i have had a look at some cases and one that has stood out from the croud in my eyes is the Coolermaster HAF 932. as it is only 130 it looks to be a very good case for the money and it has a lot of space for watercooling in the top. ive seen some of these on youtube and ive looked at how much cool stuff you can do with watercooling and i am very interested in having making mine epually as cool.

any suggestions on what to do, or what to buy?
also i am in my teens so i am slightely limited:(

thanks a lot, James

Don't got for watercooling to start with when your building your first rig?
However by your setup it doesn't look like a very likely like you bought it like that?
You have crossfire and a CPU cooler without a fan? What going on there?

What socket is your CPU and what is your budget?

I'd reccommend a Arctic freezer 7 because its easy and simple for your first overclock (if your CPU socket will fit it), or a high end air cooler if your case has loads of space like a Ultra-120 and a 120mm fan ..

Edit: Your CPU is AM2+
Edit2: Have you read all of the guides on overclocking, and you know the risks?
And your motherboard doesn't look that great, so don't expect anything great.

i bought it like that from dell threw the college my dad works at.
the heatsink it quite big and has 3 copper pipes i think.

i think getting a new case would be better for cooling and layout.
at idle the temp is about 49,50-55,56-do you agree??

i did a test on OCCT and at full load its about 79,80 if im remembering correctly.
+my budget is 0-about 150 as its soon to be christmas

Surely he is going to have a dell mobo, which is custom and doubt a standard cooler will fit.
Maybe im wrong, but surely on a dell system you can't overclock

hmmm, my father in law has a dell xps, to free him from the dell setup he would have to buy another motherboard, case, cpu cooler and another power supply as they look specifically designed just for the dell systems. Id slap on a freezer 7 pro like the chap sais above and try some overclocking from there, otherwise its new case/mobo etc time

hi,
well dont really know how much a low budget mobo is? any info?
as for the psu are they no good for the case im after? if not can i modify the case to accomadate it?
im going to have to find some sort of cooling anyway.

? james

a motherboard shouldnt be very expensive as its amd :)
these are a good cheap mobo that overclocks well although its out of stock on here

If the power supply is ATX spec etc and has enough cables/length for all of the mobo and periphals then you might be able to keep it if it will bolt up to another case.

If not then a good branded power supply from well known and proven makes is a great investment that will last many years, corsair, thermaltake etc

for 150 you could get that mobo which includes amd's advanced clock calibration to overclock the phenoms nicely and a shiny new case with a good heatsink thrown in
