My daughters who are 6 and 7 loved playing 'Just Dance' on the Wii. So i bought a Wii - with a Fit Board (?) and Just Dance 2 , Wii Fit and Wii Sports for £70 on eBay. Now , I'm a PC guru and i know all there is to know about gaming and my PC is bang up to date but i know nothing about the Wii. So ....

What is the best way to connect the Wii to my 40" HD LCD apart from the
analogue Left/Right audio and a video connection supplied in the box?

Also any advice on the best games?
So far i've got Lego Pirates Of The Caribbean , Wii Sports , Mario Kart Wii (and 2 steering wheels) and Just Dance 2.
Ask me for the best AA settings in Crysis 2 and i'm your man, but i know nothing about this this little box of tricks ....

Super mario galaxy 1 & 2.
Madworld <- just for yourself though.
Xenoblade chronicles if you like JRPGs.
Zelda: The Twilight Princess.
Disney's: Epic Mickey, your kids will love it.
Lego Harry Potter if your family are fans. The whole damned series is legofied.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Metroid Other M
New Super Mario Bros.
A Boy and his blob <- Don't knock it.

And many many many others.

The best way to connect it to the TV is the component cable. This will allow the Wii to display in 480p. With scart/composite, the Wii looks terrible on a big screen. With component, it looks ok but nothing special. It looks nowhere near as good as an xbox360/PS3. Obviously I'm not talking about graphics, I mean image quality, text sharpness etc. The offical one tends to be £17-20. There are loads and loads of 3rd party ones an Amazon from about £3 but if you read user reviews, there are comments about them not being able to display arcade games. No idea if that's the case.

Official component lead is the way to go.
I fiddled with tv' settings sharpness etc until i get best image and then just enjoy some actually pretty good games

My picks would be

Monster hunter tri
Mario kart
Xenoblade chronicles
Da blob
Metroid prime
Golden eye

You want boom blox mate, you're kids will love it, self alike.

Doing the sports thing, we like Grandslam tennis.

Hate to tell you but Just Dance 3 is just out. But that'll make a good xmas present for both of them!

I've had fun playing Raving Rabbids, may be more of a teen or adult game, but always fun when the possible future sister inlaw brings it over.
Zelda: Skyward Sword is due out soon.
Donkey Kong country returns is fun too, only really play it co-op mod.
