Have you a budget you are going to be using? What level of cash you loking to spend?

The amd phenom ii x6 1090 black is on the motherboard's supported CPU list on Asrock's support site, at least the tray model number HDT90ZFBK6DGR is. Bear in mind you might need to perform a motherboard bios update before installation. There'll be a bump in CPU performance there, but you're still looking at a six year old CPU which wouldn't exactly have been considered a gaming monster even back in the day - it might hold back a GTX 1060 (which is a solid choice btw).

If it was me, I'd bite the bullet and get a Skylake i3 setup, but you're looking at maybe £300. I'd only bother with that Phenom if you can get it for a song.

Head over to the general hardware section and see if you can get a few options from the good folks there.

You won't get enough performance from those old amd cpu.
Good advise to go with a new motherboard and an i3.

I always had amd stuff but Intel is just better for games these days.

What's your budget? I've just built a gaming PC out of second hand parts with an i5 and GTX 970 and it came in at not much more than £400. If you go for an i3 and a lesser graphics card you'll be looking at closer to £300.
