im a pc noob. Help!!!!!!!!

Hello I have recently needed to upgrade my pc but i dont know if the parts I'm planning on getting will work.

Specs (as of posting)

Cpu. amd athlon ii x4 635 @2.90
Ram. 6gb dual channel ddr2 (4gb in one channel 2gb in other)
Gpu. Nvidia gts250 palit model
Psu. Corsair cx600m
Mobo. Asrock k10n78

I am planning on changing two aspects of my pc which is the cpu to a amd phenom ii x6 1090 black and my gpu to a msi gtx 1060. Would this work. Thank you for any replies in advance

thank you implosiveturnip for your guidence. i have taken it onboard and i am probaly going to go for the pc upgrade as the intel chips are way too expensive for what i have. the system upgrade seemes to be the better option for what resorses i have avalible at the moment to me.
