Well I thought I'd give it another go!...

I've not done Seti since the old Classic, I think I got upto 5,000ish W/U's (can't remember the last Certifficat I had)...

Anyhew I've just got this machine working (sort of) stable and thought I'd give BOINC a go!...

Been going for 10 mins and its done 6%(ish)...

I've also Re-Joined OcUK (was a member eaons ago!!)

Dunno how usefull I'm gonna be though!, Boss lady don't like me leaving the 'pooter on 24/7... So it'll be Evenings and Weekends from me!...

:)
Sim.

Welcome back to the team then friend.

Been folding myself now for a few months with OcUK. As you've been away eons you've been around longer than I, so - pleased to meet you :) .

What boinc projects are you running then?

I was running Seti when it was in its infancy!, heard about it on Tomorrows world and thought I'd try it!... Screensaver, then Command Line with all the trimmings, Then joined the OcUK team... I had a nice Athlon 1Gb T'Bird 'AXIA' (that dates me!!) running 24/7 back then!... :) Plus my Work P3 600, an Athlon4 (1Ghz) Laptop, and a K6II-500...

Now (due to Marriage etc..) I've only I've got a more sedate x64 3400+ (stock) running (as said) Evenings and Weekends... So I won't be 'Parping' anyone soon! :D

I tried Folding at one point but I'm a 'Seti Dweeb' I wanna find ET  ( ;) )

...and there goes another Seti thread to the dark foldy side :p

I started DC due to Seti so I have to pay it tribute whenever possible - even if it was partly resposible for blowing up my KA7-100 Slot A motherboard after completing 125 WUs using the g-g-gooooey and an Athlon 700 (little did I know back then that the CLI version was a whole lot more efficient - ahh the days before I found this place :o )

I still have my Slot-A Athlon 700 (and a GFD for overclocking) though these days it merely sits in a box in the loft - couldn't bare to chuck it out :o

Its funny, I did a tiny amount of seti crunching way back in the day. Man my pc knowledge then was a shade of what it is now, only a few years ago too. I think it was first on the scene, so yeah, deserves credit for that :) even if it is complete nonsense - "little green men" eh? :p

Same here. I started in 2002 or so I think, using the screensaver version. That was of course before I discovered OcUK. System was a Celeron 2ghz (chose that because I saw the Celeron 2ghz and a P4 2ghz for twice the cost... "Well they're both 2ghz so you'd be crazy to buy the P4" I thought!) :o

null :)

though of course what you should have been doing was waiting for the ThoroughbredB XP1700 to come out so you could clock it to 2.2GHz+ for even less than the cost of the Celeron system :p :D
