Hi,

I've just joined the climate prediction OcUK team and am in the Seti team - I haven't ran BOINC for quite a while because I didn't like my CPU running at 100% while I was away as it used to get to 65 (67 is max recommended for my CPU).

But now I have a new heatsink (Ninja Scythe Plus mmmmm :D) which is nice and cool (32 idle and 45-50 load - excellent for a prescott).

I'm not sure if I'll be running climate prediction, I'll probably run folding and seti as you guys seem more in to folding.

One's definitely going to be seti though as I already have an account with quite a few points on it.

:D

Craig.

Hmmm, just got folding but don't like the fact it's not in BOINC. Is there a BOINC version of it?

--Edit--

Just found the folding version of it, but get access denied on the homepage :(

I'll run F@H if there's some way I can make it so it runs when my PC is idle unless I tell it to run all the time. Couldn't find anywhere in the options to do that :(

OK, thanks guys. Will look more at the options and, if you say it doesn't effect performance, I'll run it in the background :)

Will it run alright along side BOINC? Or should I give them each 50% resources rather?

I'm not sure if the two will work together or not - FAH has two priority settings, idle and low
Idle is the lowest possible, Low is what Seti classic used to run at by default - it will depend what the particular boinc application runs at but at least you have two options with FAH

Otherwise you could set FAH higher and limit it to 50%, though if Boinc runs out of work FAH will not be able to take the remaining 50% of spare

You'll have to try it out and see how you get on - at least there's plenty of options :)

Maybe if I set them both to take 50% resources & low priority then it'd work fine?

if you can get folding and Boinc to run at the same priority then you can set both to 100% and they will share 50% each - then if either runs out of work the other will take the full 100% until more work is available

that would be the best solution - it just depends what priority Boinc runs at really

Good idea.
I think BOINC runs at low so I'll make folding run at low as well :)

Hmmm, but the only other thing is that BOINC runs 2 SETI projects at a time each taking 50% each, if I ran folding as well on the same priority would the 2 seti projects and the folding project take a third each?

THanks,
Craig.
