Hi all!

I've been out of the country travelling Australia and other places for the last year or so and have just got back home to Blighty. I used to be really into my Seti Boinc and managed to get up to cell 13 or there abouts before leaving.

Well as you can imagine my production dropped dramatically after i left as my farm was dismantled and sold off to raise funds and borgs were lost. So i'm back but things are going to be different. I've decided to turn to the dark side and start folding!

I'm not completely abandoning Seti, i still have a few borgs out there, but i'm going to concentrate my efforts on folding. I have a question tho - The only machines i have at my disposal at the moment are:

1 x 2.53Ghz P4 Northwood 1Gb Ram
1 x 2.8GHz P4 Northwood 512Mb Ram
2 x 733MHz P3 Coppermine 512mb Ram
1 x 500Mhz P3 Coppermine? 256Mb Ram

Obviously the P4's are fine, but are the P3's worth setting up? Or would these be better suited for Seti Boinc which weights the points awarded making lower spec machines viable?

Agreed.

Also, due to changes to SETI BOINC, any past favourable weighting from slower machines has vanished (the benefits were somewhat dubious anyway).

If they're on anyway, then go for it. If not, it's up to you but I certainly wouldn't if I was paying for the electricity, and possibly wouldn't even if I wasn't.
 
Thanks for the replies. I thought that would be the general concensus, i might have one of the 733 P3's going as a linux box so might give that a shot. I also just remembered i've got a 1.somethingGHz P3 box buried in the loft as well, that would suit the bill.

Well i guess i better start saving for a new farm! ...means i have to get a job tho :eek:
