Hi all :)

I've decided that due to the recent shake up over here that I'd come back and do a bit of Folding for the best team in the world again.

I only decided the day before I came away to Egypt again and didn't have time to set things up properly on the quad - couldn't get WinSMP to work for some reason and didn't have time to set up VMWare or dual (actually triple) boot the rig so it's currently chugging away at 4 v6 clients. I've also left the M1710 running 1 v6 client and that's about it for the moment. I may get a bit more going when I get back in a months time but will be nowhere near my former output.

A bit late to make Mr Berserker work for his stomp and will probably not get near his output (at least in the near future ;)) but I'll fend off a few of the young pretenders for a while.

FOLD ON TEAM 10

Stan :)

I'm thinking of maybe running both quads and both core duos full time and the M1710 part time - not sure what sort of ppd that gets me nowadays. Will probably be running winSMP on one quad (gaming rig), linux SMP on the other (dedicated folder, interweb browsing etc.) and the same combination on the duos (one will be an entertainment rig and the other just for Folding).

Crikey. Even when he is only running a fraction of his farm his output will be in the region of 8 or 9K. Very much more if those Quads and C2Ds are getting overclocked.

If he got his Quads and C2Ds to 3GHz he can expect 12K and beyond. *cries*

Above guestimates are based on the quads running 4 smp clients each and the C2Ds running one client each and based my own experience. Laptop hasn't been factored in but is probably good for a few K each week.

The quads will only be overclocked a bit. The B3 Q6600 will run at 3.0GHz but is a little unstable under the sort of load F@H will put on it (one core tends to die under Orthos at that speed) and the G0 Q6600 is a huge disappointment, the best I can get it to is 2.7GHz - anything above that and it doesn't want to know - these things are supposed to be good for 3.6GHz on air :( As a result, both quads will be running at about 2.7GHz. The G0 does run nice and cool though - 47C at full load under a Ninja.

The two duos (E6300 & E6600) were both quite happy at 3.0GHz before so I would imagine that's what they'll be running at.

I haven't decided for certain that that's what'll be happening yet but the two quads will definitely be running and probably at least one of the duos if not both.

Any idea how VMware runs on 64bit Windows ultimate? Might set up Ubuntu on the gaming rig if it works ok with VMware.
