has anyone got a formula they can spoon feed me as im being lazy

imagine 12000 miles a year

whats the cost per month at 25mpg vs 35 mpg

thanks

You do know that there are sites on the internet that will work this out for you :p

12000/12 = 1000 miles per month

1000/25 = 40 gallons per month @ 25mpg
1000/35 = 28.5 gallons per month @ 35mpg

1 Imperial gallon = 4.54609188 litres

40 gallons = 182litres @ 25mpg
28.5 gallons = 130litres @ 35mpg

So assuming 120ppl, thats £218 vs £156

1 litre = 4.55g

1 gallon = £5.46/gallon

1000 miles / 25mpg = 40 gallons
1000 miles / 35mpg = 28.6 gallons

25mpg = 40 gallons = £218.4
35mpg = 28.6 gallons = £156.2

there has to be a simpler way?

Thats exactly what i just did too, not exactly rocket science the way we have done it :)

Plug all that crap into a spreadsheet to allow you to change the figures on the fly

1 litre = 4.55g

1 gallon = £5.46/gallon

1000 miles / 25mpg = 40 gallons
1000 miles / 35mpg = 28.6 gallons

25mpg = 40 gallons = £218.4
35mpg = 28.6 gallons = £156.2

there has to be a simpler way?

There is a simpler way, just dont worry about the cost of petrol :)

It takes me about 30 seconds to put it in Excel whenever I need to do this, as I never remember to save it.
