I'm being stung for a lost DartTAG

Ok, so I hold my hands up, I've lost one of my DartTAGs, big deal!

So yesterday I get an invoice dated the 8th (postmarked the 10th) saying I have 14 days from the date of the invoice to pay £18 inc VAT for the lost Tag.

I'm pretty annoyed on a couple of levels;

1. Most businesses give you 28 days to settle invoices, this one is 14
2. It's 14 days from the date of the invoice, which is 2 days prior to that of the post mark!
3. I'm being made to pay £18 for a 50p piece of plastic

I'm after some advice, where I stand on this one, I'm sure it's written in to the T&C's that I have to pay for a lost or stolen one, but it does seem a total rip off and it's pretty much written off all the savings I've made by using it

Does it really matter whether you have 14 or 28 days to pay? You lost it, probably signed the terms and conditions, you may as well pat it.

If it was a few hundred quid then I'd probably think about more time but as it's £18 you may as well get it paid and out of the way.

Allows you to use the Dartford crossing at a reduce rate using a special tag which goes in your windscreen and gets detected by the sensors at the tolls.

I have a local residence tag which costs me £10 a year and 20p per crossing.

It's a widget for the Dartford crossing so you don't have to throw change at the toll booth / operator - it automatically bills you instead.

It's probably 'admin charges'.

The only thing you could do is to call or write to them and dispute the charges giving them your reasons. I suspect you'll still be told to pay up though!

Dont they give you them free in the first place? seems a bit of a ripoff to pay 18 quid for a replacement.

Cant you just apply again, and get another free one?

Not as easy as that sadly

As long as you have a account with them and use it every so often then you don't get charged, we had one dart tag which was not used for a while and they sent us a letter stating we would get charged a fee or return / use the dart tag and the fee would get wavered.

When you cancel the account you need to return the dart tag.
