Been getting a few calls on my mobile along the lines of

"Hi, I'm Dave, calling from blah blah finance, regarding the loan application you made on our website"

Also had a text message from "Loan Finder" along the same lines. This obviously made me a bit wary about identity theft as I havent applied for anything in a long time - got a bank loan 2 years ago and a mortgage 1 year ago, nothing since.

I've run a credit report and it doesnt show anything out of the ordinary - presumably this is just a marketing tactic in the hope of getting someone who says "well I havent applied, but seeing as its been approved...."?

When I've quizzed them, they have no details whatsoever of my "loan application". Anyone else get these?

Calls like these are just Sport, Learn to Saviour & Enjoy Random callers. :D

I like my Random calls & just say Random answers back to them some times, Are you interested in a new kitchen Sir ? I don't use my car that often mate other wise I would. :D
Can I speak to the Lady of the House please Sir ? I am the Lady  (said in my deepest voice) :D

yeh I've had two calls recently from jerks like this - I told them to GTFO and delete my details from their system.

One of them was a mobile number and I missed the call - so I called back and the woman was like on her lunch break or something! I was like who the hell are you? Then she tried to give me a loan with half a sandwich (I hope that's what it was!) in her mouth!

Total twonks.

I get that but with car insurance
"we could knock 200 pounds off of the £3000 quote we gave you"
"why would i do that i've gotten a quote for just over £1100 with free breakdown cover and windscreen repair, what makes your insurance worth £1900 more?"

If he calls again, ask him about his loan application.

Or what he's wearing, whatever juggles your balls.

just repeat what they ask you

or..

after they've just said something, say 'pardon?', then when they say it again, just respond with "you've said that twice now, stop going on about it"

I had some chap ring me about solar roofing panels not so long back. Was mighty interesting upto the point I thought I better inform him I live in a flat. Caller 0 me 1.

They're mostly just cold callers to pick up the people that then think 'Oh actually I could use a loan for...'

I can't believe that these days anyone would be stupid enough to give details that would enable you to get a loan over the phone to a cold caller.

You have no idea who it is at the other end of the phone when they contact you.

i've had a few that phone up saying

"we're calling about your car accident you had in the last 6 months"

Erm i have never crashed my car

"oh well if you or anyone you know has been hurt or injured in the last..."

would bet my last penny its the comparison sites flogging off the data.
