Im confused :( please help ..

Well the thing is ive made a little gaming pc for my self

P8 z68 v + 2500k @ 4.6
8 gig of ddr3 dual channel
rad hd6950
sata 3 1tb barracuda till i get my ssd corsair

thing is that ive just upgraded from a e8400 @ 4ghx oc 4 gig off ddr2 and me olde raptor..

Ive only increased the 3d mark by 400 ???

My mates got a lesser set up except he has a 480 and a ssd drive but gets 5k score...

its doing my head right in ... any ideas ?

Which 3D mark version are you running? Did you do a fresh install of Windows to ensure none of the old crap is slowing it down?

3d mark 11 and yeah fresh 64bit ultimate ... even just stuck latest cat driver on for bf3 ?

got to say has made a massive difference on COD black ops but arnt running any mental res either ..

Im thinking its got to be to do with the mobo settings being lame or something..
