okeydokey, so the problem is that i am on a 939 platform with an opteron 170 @ 2.9Ghz, I was planning on upgrading to AM2+ with AMD`s new chips but when they came out and generally flopped, i found myself sat waiting for them to fix them.
so now they have the new revision quad cores and it was looking tempting till you dig into the specifics and find that they are only a fiver cheaper than an intel quad core and as i am an overclocker and have water cooling, the intels (Q6600 for example) will clock far higher than its AMD counterpart, plus i think i am right in thinking that i can find an intel board to take a quad core as well as my existing DDR ram saving on an upgrade.
but then i have to ask will i use the quad core that much ? i dont do much encoding, mainly game play, so all in all im a little miffed. I am an AMD fanboy at heart but i have to go where my wallet takes me, so what do you suggest ??
