Hi Guys,

I've done my first overclock and while my machine is stable I want to know if I did it right.

Spec is in signature.

I'm running at 3ghz now with the settings as follows:

FSB Multiplyer = 9
FSB = 333mhz
Memory Multipler = 2.4 (showing as running just under 800mhz in the bios)
Vcore is at stock

Does that look ok? Its the memory part that I'm more worried about really. Should I look to tighten the timings? I'm currently running at 4-4-4-15.

They look fine to me, what is the rated speed of the RAM?

If it is running at near enough it's rated speed then you may not have much play in the timings but you can always give it a go and stress test it (Blend or Large FFTs in Prime95) would be handy.

Its rated a 800mhz so its pretty up to the max. Memory is the only thing i havent clocked so i was wondering if it would be worth it.

You can always give it a go, i can get 450MHz (900 effective) running 5-5-5-15 out of my Geil ULL RAM which is rated at 4-4-4-12.

From what i have read about Intels, they are more subject to improvement with higher FSBs than tighter timings, unlike the old AMDs that really benefitted from tighter timings.

All i can say is try the RAM at 4-4-4-12 and stress it to see if you can get it stable, i wouldnt have thought you could get much lower than that, but there is no harm in trying..

I may give mine a quick go with slightly tighter timings as with my q6600 i am only running 430MHz so might get away a bit less.
