Howzit all,

I don't know what's causing this. But over the last month I've been getting small static shocks at work, everytime I touch something metal I get a small shock. Sometimes it's bigger the normal. If I haven't touched metal for a while. Very annoying and customers are starting to wonder why I keep saying, "Ouch, damnit!" all the time.

Anyone else have this problem? It's very annoying!

Happens to me all the time at work, and what's worse is that I have an antistatic mat on my desk which causes me to discharge every time I sit down. I've taken to touching it with a metal object before I sit down now - the spark jumps between the object and the mat, which stops me from getting a shock.

do you look like this?

I work in boots the chemist and i get shocks every time im in work especially from the damn lifts. Your is just probably full of static like mine is.

I get this too, it drives me insane. And I don't wear polyester. I think it's to do with the carpet in my car, it happens more getting into/out of the car - but I get them often when brushing past people, or accidentally touching them.

What kind of shoes do you wear? And do you have a choice in them? I've found that that caused shocks for me when I worked in a stockroom, I'd get shocks from everything. I also get shocks from my car when I'm wearing a specific pair of shoes.

I wear different shoes every day, wooden, leather, it doesn't seem to make a difference. It's me and seemingly the OP, I'm just a conductor (and not the musical type!) :(

What cloths do you wear?
What materials are used in them?

You want a list of my wardrobe? You'll be here all day. I wear shoes with leather soles, or wooden heels, and mostly cotton based stuff to try and avoid it.

OP, here's a handy link :D
Linky

I find denim sets of the electric static shocks with me lots.
It doesn't really matter what shoes i wear

I get shocks off our canteen door every time I use it, as well as the banister rail on the stairs.

I've taken to covering my hand up before going to the canteen :o

I only open doors (with metal handles) with my sleeve carefully placed over my hand too :D
