How long would a UPS of that standard last without any power?

that ups will last 8-10 minutes. The idea of the ups is to cover minor glitches and brownouts with the ability to perform a controlled shutdown in the event of a longer power outage.

IIRC the array is set to shutdown at 75%. Plenty of time to shutdown.

lol @ 01:01:60

Power constantly flicking on and off and jumping about all over the place will kill anything after a time. Brownouts are the worst, where power is half on and half off for a few miliseconds or even seconds.

Must get myself a ups, must not be tempted by cheap belkin ones coz apparently they turn on some time after they loose power!

funny 61 seconds a minute :D.

idk about ups, kinda overkill for a home pc no?

It's a standlone fileserver that runs 24/7 for the house headless. I don't even run CP.net on it!

My main PC doesn't store data other than windows and games installs.

I have a pair of 5U, 5000va UPS devices arriving on Thursday. Theoretical uptime of 8 hours...... each*

*With a load of about 50watts... little under what we'll use of course :o:p
